Pets Are Family. Make A Plan For Them!
Posted April 23, 2023
In recent months shelters have been overrun with surrendered pets from owners who no longer can take care of them, or worse don’t want them any more. These poor pets are scared, depressed, anxious, and don’t know why their family doesn’t want them any more after years of loyalty and love to their people.
Your pets are part of your family and estate! Every animal deserves a lifetime of care, love, and security, and when you adopt a pet, you are promising a commitment to them for their lifetime. By naming a guardian for your furry friends in your will, you can ensure they always have a safe and loving home. Don’t assume a family member or friend will take them if something happens to you.
Just like people, as pets age they may require extra medical care like dentals, blood work, or special food. Plan ahead with pet insurance, savings, or CARE credit. If you have to move, don’t choose a place that doesn’t take pets. If you are in a financial bind, there are resources and programs in each county that will help with food and litter. All you have to do is contact them.
Please make a plan for your pets. They are FAMILY and they depend on YOU to honor your commitment to them and take care of them for their entire life.
Some of the cats at the Goathouse were in that situation of being discarded. If you would like to help us with their care in their golden years, you can DONATE HERE.
