Help the Boy Scouts Help the Refuge!
Posted October 11, 2011
Our favorite Boy Scouts, Garrett and Geoffrey, have undertaken ambitious Eagle Scout Projects in support of Goathouse Refuge facilities. Read more about their projects and click below to help Garrett and Geoffrey raise the funds required for materials to complete their projects. Help the Boy Scouts help the Refuge!
Garrett’s Project: Cistern and Water Pump System for the Pond
Garrett is installing a cistern and water pump system for volunteers to hand-pump water from the Goathouse pond up the bank and beyond the new fence to the cistern. This water will be used around the Goathouse facilities and will ensure our neighborhood deer have access to the water after the new fence is installed. Help Garrett purchase the cistern, pump, weatherproof tubing, check valve and basket filter for this project by making a secure online donation below!
Fundraising goal: $1,000
Geoffrey’s Project: Installing Gravel Floor in Cat Enclosure
Geoffrey is organizing the delivery and installation of several tons of Chapel Hill Grit, a fine gravel, on the floor of the Goathouse outdoor cat enclosure (nearly one square acre) to ensure an even safer and cleaner space for the cats. This will involve unloading and spreading 120 tons–several dump truck loads–of gravel. Help Geoffrey fund the cost of gravel, equipment rental and transport by making a secure online donation below!
Fundraising goal: $2,050
