Good Things are Happening at the Refuge

Here’s a quick update on news from the Refuge:
- So far this year (from January through July), 53 of our kitties have gone to their forever homes (30 kittens and 23 adults). Thank you to everyone who adopted one or more of the wonderful Goathouse kitties!
- We have a fabulous new website, designed by Rivers Agency. Check it out!
- Our beautiful deaf white cat Nikolai was featured in the Independent Weekly’s “Dog Days of Summer” issue.
- Thank you to everyone who participated in our Burrito Bash and Reverse Raffle fundraiser on August 3rd. It was a lot of fun, and the cats send their thanks too. We are grateful to the General Store Cafe in downtown Pittsboro for hosting this event.
- We got our permit approved to start construction of a new septic system. Work began in mid-July.
- Our June 27 fundraiser, “Goathouse Cat Café,” hosted 30 guests and served delectable Italian pastries and beverages. A special thank you to the Il Palio Ristorante for providing delicious Italian gelato.
- Our May “Brunch in the Garden” event drew in another crowd of 80 hungry people. Guests were treated to a four-course dinner prepared in an Italian brick oven and served on plates created by Siglinda. Our volunteers did an enormous amount of work preparing for the event and did a fantastic job assisting Siglinda with the cooking and serving our guests.
