I support the Goathouse Refuge because it is a noble undertaking in an area of the country often short on resources where companion animals are concerned, and in particular cats; and, as a result, short on the ability to show the mercy and compassion the humans involved would no doubt prefer to act on in regards to those creatures under their care in settings away from the Refuge. The Goathouse Refuge offers that mercy and compassion to the fullest extent possible. Its existence is based on selflessness, empathy, willingness to be quiet, observe, and learn about the needs of non-human others. It is based on profound love and respect for other beings, and their right to exist and enjoy their lives as much as we want to enjoy ours. This effort is underpinned by ongoing exhausting but also joyous efforts of all kinds to maintain and transform this place into an experience of sanctuary for all. The Refuge is very needed, and needed to continue on into the future beyond our limited lifetimes, so I hope others will contribute support of all kinds, large and small, short-term and long-term.
