FDA Investigating Gravy Train Dog Food
Posted February 14, 2018
**URGENT** If you or someone you know feeds your pets Gravy Train brand dog food, please warn them that FDA testing found unsafe levels of the euthanasia drug pentobarbital in the majority of randomly tested samples of the food. ABC reports that “Gravy Train is made by Big Heart Pet Foods and owned by Smucker’s. Big Heart Brands also makes Meow Mix, Milk Bone, Kibbles’n Bits, 9 Lives, Natural Balance, Pup-Peroni, Gravy Train, Nature’s Recipe, Canine Carry Outs, Milo’s Kitchen, Alley Cat, Jerky Treats, Meaty Bone, Pounce and Snausages.” The FDA considers any trace of pentobarbital dangerous to pets. It can cause a variety of symptoms in exposed pets including “drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, loss of balance, or nausea, or in extreme cases, death.”
