Can you provide a home for a cat? And let us save even more?
Posted November 10, 2011
We are currently receiving a larger than usual number of pleas to take in cats at Goathouse Refuge. So many wonderful cats are waiting and hoping for some love and a chance at life; it is heartbreaking to see. And sadly, we are close to running out of space to save the lives of cats that, if not brought here, will be released into the animal control shelters where they will be killed in gas chambers. Each day shelters are killing many thousands of wonderful cats and dogs. Death is not the worst thing if managed with kindness and without terror and pain. To be abandoned in the stairs of a college dormitory or in the woods in the cold to starve and at the mercy of wild animals, is not a humane choice either.
FOREVER HOMES or Temporary homes are now desperately needed for many cats so that we will have space to save additional lives. We are asking for your immediate help to give a good home or in finding good homes or providing a temporary home to a kitty. By taking in a cat, long or short term, you not only give that cat much needed loving support , but you also give a lifesaving break to another kitty who is waiting for space in our no-kill Goathouse Refuge.
Most of our adult cats (four months or older) who are available for adoption and have been in our Goathouse Refuge for at least three weeks are eligible to be adopted or fostered. We particularly ask you to consider adopting or temporarily homing one or two of our cats who have been here for a period of time, our “ Older but Wiser” mature cats or our special-needs cats. All our cats are tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Adopting or Fostering a deserving cat is a win-win situation for all concerned. The resident cats will enjoy the comforts of a home, space is freed up for other homeless pets and you will have a marvelous time with your new cat friend(s), knowing that you have helped save lives.
Most of the cats at the Goathouse Refuge were once loved family members, now cast aside. You can help save lives by giving to one of these sad, unhappy cats love and a family, if just for a few months.
Each new foster parent will receive a starter bag of cat food and Goathouse Refuge will cover all veterinary care needed during your foster experience. There is no fee to foster.
Please come in and visit with the kitties anytime—we are open seven days a week. One of our great Cat Caregivers or Adoption Counselors can match you with the perfect cat that fits your lifestyle and personality. They are eager to help you help the animals.
