Rita’s Story
Posted October 13, 2011
Rita is a gorgeous 11-year old pure-bred Abyssinian. She was abandoned by her breeder because she has a cleft palate. Rita was picked up and de-clawed by a second owner who then abandoned her to a local shelter, which called Goathouse Refuge.
Now, Goathouse Refuge is providing Rita a safe, happy home and raising funds for the estimated $2,000 cost of specialty surgery for the cleft palate. A kind and faithful friend to Goathouse has volunteered to adopt Rita after surgery, whatever the outcome.
It is with the generous support of Goathouse Refuge volunteers and donors that we are able to provide a home, food and care to homeless cats and kittens. Thanks to you, we have many success stories of abandoned kitties receiving the medical care they need.
You may remember Rosa, who was unable to breathe freely due to a growth in her lungs. Thanks to the support of the Goathouse community, we raised the $1700 required to diagnose Rosa’s condition and provide the treatment she needed. Today, Rosa breathes freely and is waiting to meet her new forever-family! Thank you for your continued generosity and support of these dear animals. Read more about Rosa here.
Urgent! We need your help to raise $10,000 before November 30th to obtain a $10,000 matching gift in order to continue providing medical care, a safe home and food for the 200 Goathouse kitties.
